Burgernomics

I don’t want to shock anyone here, but politicians don’t always tell the truth.

If you were responsible for pouring trillions of dollars into the US economy, most of us would probably take credit for that… But who wants to admit this was a major cause of inflation?

We stand in solidarity with Ukraine? DAMN RIGHT WE DO.
Has this made everything more expensive? Ummmm… Maybe a tiny bit but not much, so relax baby.

Thankfully, one of my favourite indie creators @levelsio has spun up a modern version of The Economist’s Big Mac Index (originally created in 1986).

Taking a ton of economic factors into account is never easy, but at least I can kinda understand Burgernomics.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this one over the coming months… Let’s hope it doesn’t feel like the few months after Black Monday, where this chart shows a Big Mac soaring from $1.60 in December 1987, to $2.39 less than a month later.

Although judging by the cost of petrol lately, I guess that’s exactly what it does feel like. Sad face.
